Another sad Eid without festivities and celebrations

Image
By: Altamash K. Long ago memories of Eid haul me to a sense of sadness when I remember the gleeful moments from my past celebrations. It has been the second consecutive year to watch looming despairs of the pandemic that has washed off all the joy in one go.  Learning memories of the festivities of Eid is no less than a sorrowful event that would grieve you in the present struggle. Yet the cheerful memories of the festival are hard to let off when it was the only time, all the diasporas visited their ancestral homelands meeting old friends & families. I still remember those pre-fest preparations that demanded equal contributions from each member of the family. But the current scenario contradicts each practice we loved to do in those goody days.  The horrifying stature of the festival is far more displeasing than the last since the loss incurred by each and all of us is much-much huge this time. I haven't met a single person, a friend, a family who haven't lost a dear one,...

Shrinking Democracy, witnesses student revolt

"Ham aman chahte haiñ magar zulm ke ḳhilaf Agar jang lazmi hai to phir jañg hi sahi."  - Sahir Ludhianvi In the recent attacks physical, emotional, and ideological on the premiere institutes of the country i.e Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, and the Jawahar Lal Nehru University, have clearly stated the shrinking extent of democracy that was so far led by the Nehruvian and Gandhian idealogue of the nation. Resembling the protest and its grade at these universities reminds us of the similar condition prevailing in the United States in 1968 and France in 1968, wherein political activity failed to address the people's issue, and the main reason behind was the Vietnam war.  It was the youth students — especially students at the universities and colleges — who first raised the voice of protest. They asked, why is the US fighting a war in distant Vietnam? Why are young Americans dying in the hundreds? The political system failed to provide satisfactory an...

The business of data....!!

July 8, 2018 By Altamash K. Fortunately or Unfortunately belonging to the millennial population we have entered into an existential crisis witnessing our relationship with the digital umbrella we are dwelling beneath or we may say the World Wide Web. In time, when the digital web became our best friend proving a longest relationship of more than a decade has today acquired a deep faith in anchoring our thoughts, deeds and perceptions as well. Today, we feel as if it is only the web that actually knows us. Truly, Netflix knows on things we watch and recommendations, All our conversations are either on facebook or whatsApp instead of our head, Twitter knows what can make us troll, Instagram gives us the joy of seeing ourselves the way we want to be seen, Snapchat keeps us snapping with unnecessary filters, Tinder keeps us swiping right, Wikipedia knows all that we want to know, Google keeps spam away, Amazon delivers the things we need or not, paytm has made the atm pointles...

Politics beyond 'Vikash'- The changing ideology of politics.

Image
By: Altamash Khan July 27,2017. It is the best time when the people of Bihar need to revisit their ideological intellect and introspect how the politics of ideology has been dis-planted by the politics of benefits. The people of Bihar need to be more careful henceforth for the man of 'Shushashan' will leave reasons un-left in order to justify his course of action. But it is the time when we need to be more insightful about the voracious nature of our leader who are capable of dismantling the political stability of a state, for their political benefits.  During the moment when the state started to be counted among the best growing states of the country with GDP estimated at 7.6%, even more than the national average for a five year period from 2011-2016 at constant prices with 2011 as the base year. As per CSO (Central Statistical Organisation), Several sectors that have been the drivers of growth in Bihar registered more than 10 per cent growth - manufacturing 17.7 ...

Silent leaders- a pitfall in democracy.

Image
By: Altamash Khan. The major responsibility of the democratic nation lies in the hands of representatives to the people, It is equal responsibility of the winners and the opposition to play as the watchdog of the democratic practices. After every electoral phase the leaders who happen to loose the election get disappeared till the next onset, whereas they are supposed to be accountable for the social building as the democracy interpretates itself. Moreover, During the interim it is the best time regaining lost trust among the people. How many of you remember when Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, ex-chief minister of Uttar Pradesh lastly spoke at any public forum. Growing atrocities or the fascist nature of the ruling Government, None of them have been able to attract the attention of the pseudo secular leader in any cases. Silence is condemnable in democracy, as said by our great leaders in the past. Amid the lynching incidents growing unhesitatingly in our country, exemplifies the natu...
